Bagels and Belief

Pine Street continues to offer the popular adult education series called BAGELS and BELIEF held in Fellowship Hall on the 1st Sunday of every month at 8:45 am.  After the bagels, there is a presentation followed by a Q and A session. Everyone is encouraged to attend. No sign-up is required. Just show up with a hunger to learn and to eat great bagels!

January 8 – Bagels and Belief – Pastor Sullivan will discuss a new model for mission called Prophetic Dialogue. We’ll examine church history and how different models of mission arose to deal with specific contexts. What’s appropriate for our context? Enjoy good bagels, and come away with some new thoughts about mission.

February 5 – Bagels and Belief: Christianity and Foreign Policy – What is a Christian perspective on foreign policy? How can Christians influence our nation’s foreign policy? Join Dr. Dean Curry, Professor of Politics at Messiah College, as he shares with us thoughts on this important subject.

March 5 (Bagels and Belief), and March 12, 19, 26, and April 2 (Adult Forums)“The Word Made Film” – Join Dr. Meg Ramey, Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Messiah College, as we view depictions of Jesus in various films. Dr. Ramey is the author of The Quest for the Fictional Jesus, which explores the phenomenon of Jesus novels and their relationship with their source material – the Bible. She also teaches a course entitled Jesus in Fiction and Film. These forums will bring a fresh perspective to your journey with Christ during Lent.
