When Are New Member Classes Held?
New Members classes are held twice a year beginning in February and September, providing those seeking membership an opportunity to learn more about their faith and about the church. For further information about membership, contact the church office, fill out the form below or speak to one of the pastors after morning worship.
The new members classes are run by the associate pastor, Rev. Alex Lang. The new membership process is divided into six classes and six Bible studies.
What Do We Do In The Classes?
The classes are designed to give a broad overview of the Christian faith by touching on spirituality, Biblical history, theology, church history and what it means to be a Presbyterian.
If these topics sound like they are difficult, dull or scary, the classes are designed to be very interactive and fun. This is not a class where you have to listen and nod your head in agreement. We encourage you to bring your questions, your doubts, your points of view. No matter what you believe, your opinions will be honored.
Every type of person can benefit from this class – from the person who knows nothing about Christianity to the person who has been going to church their whole life – no one leaves without feeling as though they have gained something useful to their faith journey.
Each class begins with lunch after the 11:00 a.m. service provided by a group in the church who will take time to tell you about what their particular ministry does to benefit Pine Street and the Harrisburg community. Following their presentation, we spend approximately one hour learning about one of the topics mentioned above.
Why Do We Do A Bible Study?
The Bible study is held during the week, usually at a person’s house, and is designed to help every person feel like they have the ability to read and understand God’s Word.
Most people who go through our Bible study have never really read the Bible before and find out very quickly that they have a lot to offer. You don’t have to be a biblical scholar to study the Bible, you just have to want to learn more about God.
