Blessing of the Backpacks
A great outpouring of backpacks and school supplies were received during July for the Joshua House Ministry. They will be blessed This Sunday along with the backpacks of our school children. Kids, please bring your backpacks to church with you for the blessing during morning worship. Grownups, if you would like to bring your work bags, those can be blessed as well!

August Giving Barrel
Each month Pine Street’s Giving Barrel aims to offer church members and friends the opportunity to demonstrate love for each other. This ongoing mission activity reminds us of God’s call to “carry each other’s burdens.” (Galatians 6:2) The response from Pine Street members has been wonderful, and the Extending God’s Love team thanks everyone for their support!
August’s Giving Barrel project is well underway with a team of church members gathering ingredients for a meal that will be delivered to Bethesda Mission Women and Children’s shelter residents. Some team members will prepare desserts at their homes and bring the items to church. The remaining dishes will be prepared with all team members cooking together in Pine Street’s kitchen while enjoying the fellowship one experience’s when working with others. The lunch will be delivered to the Shelter on August 29.

There is still time to participate in this project by donating and placing gently used children’s books in the Giving Barrel by Sunday, August 28. The books, delivered along with the meal, will help build the Shelter’s library and will be shared with children residing with their mothers.
