Worship Assistants
Worship Assistants are children, youth and adults who assist in Sunday services by serving as Crucifer, Beadle. Each of these important tasks is an opportunity to serve in leadership in our worship.
If you would like to volunteer as a Worship Assistant, please contact Tom Clark-Jones at 717-238-9304 or tjones@pinestreet.org.
Bread Ministry
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; those who come to me shall not hunger, and those who believe in me shall never thirst.” John 6:35
Since 2006, members of the Bread Ministry have been baking sweetbread and giving it to each first-time visitor to Pine Street Presbyterian. Bread is distributed after each Sunday worship service.
If you would like to serve in the Bread Ministry, please contact Cheryl Goode at 717-238-9304 or cgoode@pinestreet.org.
Flower Ministry
Each week members or friends of Pine Street Church sponsor flowers that grace the sanctuary for our Sunday morning worship services. These flowers are given either in memory of loved ones or in honor of a living member or friend of Pine Street Church. Following the 11:00 a.m. service, a volunteer delivers the flowers and a service bulletin from that day’s service to a member who is hospitalized or is part of the Home Department. Persons who are interested in sponsoring flowers for Sunday morning worship services please enter your information below.
Helping Hands Ministry
If you know your way around a toolbox or if you are handy with a paintbrush or rake, the Helping Hands Ministry could use your help! This important ministry helps members of the Pine Street congregation with minor work inside or outside of their homes.
The person receiving the help will provide the necessary supplies. Helping Hands volunteers joyfully provide the labor.
If you would like to participate in the Helping Hands Ministry, contact Cheryl Goode at (717) 238-9304 or cgoode@pinestreet.org.
If you would like assistance from Helping Hands Ministry, please contact Michelle Kennedy at (717) 238-9304 or mkennedy@pinestreet.org
Shawl Ministry
Calling all knitters! If you like to loop, hook, purl or popcorn, come join the Shawl Ministry on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. Our members range in age from 11 to 80-something.
The Shawl Ministry knits shawls for those who need a bit of warmth and comfort. Members of the Shawl Ministry pray over each shawl, asking that the one using the shawl will feel the love of Christ.
Shawls are available for worshippers to use each Sunday. You can pick up a shawl in the Narthex and on the pew running along the side of the church near the Lectern. At the end of the service, please leave the shawl at the end of the pew and a member of the ministry will pick it up for laundering.
Shawls are also distributed to shut-ins and members who are ill.
For more information, contact Cheryl Goode at (717) 238-9304 or cgoode@pinestreet.org.
Congregational Care Meal Program
Pine Street Presbyterian’s Congregational Care Team has a heart for taking care of the individuals and families of our church. One way they do this is through the Congregational Care Meal Program.
Team members make and deliver four meals to individuals returning home after a hospital stay. Volunteers serve on a rotating basis.
If you enjoy making meals and visiting others, and would like to volunteer in this important ministry, please enter your information below.
Downtown Daily Bread
Downtown Daily Bread (www.downtowndailybread.org) is a soup kitchen located in the lower level of Pine Street’s Boyd Building. Since 1983, this ministry has been providing free, hot, nutritious meals to needy and homeless individuals in Harrisburg. The meals are served daily between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Volunteer shifts start daily at 12:15 p.m. and last for 90 minutes. You can join a specific group on a specific Sunday or sign up as a substitute.
