  • At the base of the central lancet is THE ANNUNCIATION, the revealing to Mary by an angel that she will bear a child who will be called Jesus. The angel carries lilies, a symbol of purity. A dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit, hovers over Mary‘s left shoulder.
  • To the left is the ANNUNCIATION TO JOSEPH, and to the right, THE VISITATION of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth, who is also expecting a child who will be John the Baptist.
  • Above in the central lancet is the NATIVITY OF JESUS with Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus in a manger among the cattle. The Hand of God encircled by a nimbus is over the Christ Child while six angels surround the manger in adoration.
  • To the left, the JOURNEY OF THE MAGI pictures three kings following a star and bearing gifts. Note the head of a camel.
  • To the right THE SHEPHERDS listen to an angel's message and song.
  • Above in the central lancet, the FLIGHT INTO EGYPT, Joseph, leading the way, is guided by an angel, while Mary and the Child ride a donkey. One can see a pyramid and the Sphinx.
  • To the left, CHRIST THE CARPENTER pictures the young Jesus sawing wood in His father‘s shop with Joseph holding a piece of lumber.
  • To the right is THE PRESENTATION of the child Jesus in the temple where the aged Simeon recognized Him as the promised Messiah.
  • Above is seen THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST in the Jordan River with our Lord and John the Baptist. In the border are angels of praise and in each side lancet, at the top, angels carry scrolls of music (sharing the jubilation of earth and singing praises unto God.) Above are small angels (carved) in the tracery work.
